Agriculture is a major contributor to climate change, but it also holds significant potential for mitigating climate impacts and enhancing resilience, particularly among smallholder farmers. For eWofanet (EFEFA Women Farmers Network), supporting women farmers through climate-smart agriculture is critical to strengthening resilience and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Women small holder farmers play a key role in fostering inclusive, sustainable approaches to economic and social development at the grassroots level. Given their integral role, it is essential eWofanet to support these women through cooperatives to take climate action and build resilience against climate shocks, such as droughts, floods, crop diseases, and soil degradation. Attempts will focus on working with Research organizations on resilient crop varieties that are drought-tolerant, pest-resistant, and better suited to local climate conditions, climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices, climate-smart value chains and Market Access, Enhance Access to climate finance and crop Insurance, promote policy advocacy for climate action at the local level.By implementing these strategies, eWofanet can empower smallholder women farmers to adopt climate-smart practices, build resilience to climate change, and create sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural systems.
